Metallic Garden, a brief history You need to evolve over time to become something of a success, as you don't always get it right first time and Metallic Garden is no exception.
Back in 1996 we were known as 'Glazed Expressions'. This was due in part, to our production of stained glass work, including glazed, hand-built wooden cupboards, tiffany lamps, panels and jewellery. At this time, we also produced a range of art-clocks, which introduced copper as a medium to work with and something which would lead onto greater things at a later date.
It was in 1999 that we introduced our first copper water sculptures and at the time we were amongst the first producers of copper water features for the garden anywhere in the UK, launching our collection at the 'Gardeners World Live' show at the NEC. All of our designs were totally original and hand made with care and attention to detail in our small Yorkshire workshop.
In 2004, following the garden theme, we made the decision to reinvent ourselves and our website went online for the first time, showcasing many garden features and pieces of garden furniture. As we were to concentrate on products solely for the garden, we decided to stop the production of stained glass and the business name was changed, to the more appropriate 'Metallic Garden'. As the name implies, the majority of our products were to be garden features made from a whole host of metals, including, lead, bronze, copper and iron. Our range soon began to expand, to include the rusty iron plant supports and high quality metal garden benches. We also included products sourced from other manufacturers and specialists, taking what we thought would best compliment our own products, whilst trying to ensure quality and value for money. To date we remain a small family business, giving a personal and friendly service to all our customers. We try to be accessible at all times and resist being a 'click & buy' faceless entity. We are always happy to talk to all of our customers and try to treat them as we would expect to be treated ourselves.
DISSOLUTION OF PARTNERSHIP
September 2011 Due to commitments
in other areas and the development of further unrelated businesses, the
decision was taken to dissolve the working partnership between Bronwen
Glazzard & Gary Pickles. As of the 1st October 2011, 'Metallic Garden' will
no longer to be a partnership and Bronwen Glazzard will have no authority in
the day to day running and decisions effecting the business. From this day
forth, Gary Pickles will carry on the business as a sole trader.
Whilst this was a very difficult decision
to make at the time, I thought it was necessary in order to allow the
advancement of Metallic Garden and to allow Bron the freedom to flourish in
her her new ventures. I would like to thank her for all the help, guidance
and imagination she has brought over the years and wish her well with
her new endeavours. We are still a family though and I still hope to be able
to rely on her emotional support, as she can rely on mine. |
