Morning Glory Copper Fountain Made in the UK by Gary Pickles As with all of our copper fountains, the Morning Glory fountain comes complete with a heavy stone base, to enable it to sit either on a plinth in a pond, or to sit on top of a pebble pool. Connection of the pump is from below the base, so all pipes and fittings can be discreetly concealed.

As with all of our copper fountains, the copper will quickly take on a dark patina, which can further develop tinges of verdi gris green to the edges. This process continues over many decades and continually improves the appearance of the piece. Stylised, but reminiscent of the beautiful plant we so often find climbing in our gardens, The 'Morning Glory' copper fountain cascades water from flower to flower. Acting as elegant bowls, the water wells inside the blooms, spilling from one flower to the next.

Entirely self taught, Gary’s skills have been honed over many years, to produce some remarkably beautiful pieces of work, reflecting the natural plant forms that have been his inspiration.

In a Modest workshop in East Yorkshire, England, Gary has been producing his range of Copper Water Sculpture since 1999. This was at a time when there were only a handful of such artists. Since then, his pieces have been widely copied and some inferior, low quality imports have arrived on the market, as the popularity of copper in the garden increased. Gary though, has stayed steadfast in his resolve to produce very high quality pieces, in the best materials and from original designs.

Through a process of annealing and hammering, very lifelike forms can be made from a plain sheet of copper plate. Where appropriate, all key joints are made using a specialist, hard solder, which makes a union stronger than the material itself. This enables the creation of a piece of sculpture, which looks light and fragile, but is in fact very resilient.

The copper is intentionally left in its natural state, so as to benefit from the constant changing patinas, which build up over many decades. This process allows the piece to blend seamlessly into a garden environment, integrating, without dominating.
