To ensure that Fermob metal garden furniture exists in harmony with nature, products are designed and developed with the environment very much in mind. Inspired by the natural world, Fermob metal garden furniture meets specific requirements to respect the environment, which is one of Fermob's core values.

Fermob metal garden furniture is made of steel or aluminium, a material which is 100% recyclable and is recycled over 95% in most countries. The other materials such as Outdoor Technical Fabrics are also recyclable.

Wood, which is only used for Bistro Natural seats and Piazza Café range- comes entirely from European managed forests, through selected suppliers holding PEFC certification (Programme for the Endorsement of Forest Certification) .

Fermob uses ecological paints to protect the environment and our health. They contain no heavy metals or solvents, which optimises the recyclability of Fermob metal garden furniture. The paint is applied in a zero-waste installation, which is one of the most efficient in Europe, and is itself recycled during the process.

All other waste is sorted for disposal. In relation to this, Fermob was one of the first furniture companies to sign the SERPOL convention on the collection and disposal of specific waste.

The furniture is designed to be light aesthetically and physically and, therefore, uses the minimum of materials necessary.

The durability of Fermob metal garden furniture ensures it will watch the seasons go by, lasting for generations.

Fermob is actively working with its suppliers to ensure they strive for the same standards.

Fermob is in process of gaining ISO 14001 certification, a recognised standard, designed to improve the company's environmental management.

In addition, a study has been conducted with Ms. Hélène Teulon* and HEC students in the Master's Degree course in Sustainable Development to analyse environmental impact. Its purpose was to assess the comparative energy consumption involved in the manufacture of the different Fermob products in order to improve the performance of the company as regards respect for the environment and sustainable development. Since then, consideration of environmental factors has been central to all Fermob's product and packaging developments.
